Transitioning Tory

I don’t have the type of wardrobe – from a budget or space perspective – where I can purchase an item and wear it just one time. Particularly when I splurge on something, I need to make sure it fits the bill from two key perspectives – it can be worn in a number of different settings (work and social alike) and can span between the seasons. By changing up the accessories that I paired with this Tory Burch dress I was able to extend my wear of a summer dress into the early fall.

Summer Look: Tory Burch dress and shoes | earrings and bracelet (gifts from a friend) | Michael Kors watch | Ipa-Nima handbag (purchased on a work trip to Vietnam)

Fall Look: Tory Burch dress | Banana Republic trench coat | Ann Taylor sunglasses | Silver Cocoon earrings | Tory Burch handbag | kate spade new york shoes (pump version here)

Reality Check. When I ordered this dress, I absolutely did not think I would get a lot of wear out of it. I thought it would be a fairly frivolous purchase that I may regret, but I really loved the bright grass green color and the crochet detail. When a stranger commented on the dress the first time I wore it (to a friend’s wedding this summer) I said “well, you can have it tomorrow, because I don’t see myself wearing it again.” I was happy to prove myself wrong.

Love the transition! I am all about “price per wear” and the ability to go from one season to the next helps me justify some of my higher end purchases. 🙂
