The finished product, which we hung outside of Ella’s door for her to see the morning of her birthday (see post with her reaction here).
Materials include ribbon, a glue stick, paint samples from your local or big box hardware store (I chose all pinks and purples – it was for her birthday, after all), and a large paper punch (I used a one inch round punch).Punch out many rounds from each paint sample. Apply glue to the back side of the rounds (Ella’s sweet little hands were perfect for the task).
Set one round down on the table, glue side up. Place the ribbon in the center and put a second round on top, glue side down (so that the two stick together). Repeat. I suppose you could aim to have the rounds be the same color on the front and back, but that seemed like a difficult and frustrating challenge. If they are the same size, I didn’t see the point in being too particular about matching the colors.
For the party that evening, I got a second use out of the streamers by using them to decorate the dining room table. I strategically placed some tape under the chargers to keep the streamers in place.
Reality Check. Fair warning – you sort of feel like you are shoplifting when you take that many paint swatches at once.
