Reality Check. You have to trust your gut when making these, and just roll with it (no pun intended). They don’t look all that uniform and it can get a little frustrating when the chocolate hardens more quickly than you would like, but it all works out just fine. That relaxed attitude doesn’t apply, however, to melting the chocolate. I can’t count the number of times I’ve assumed I can combine heating increments included in the steps of a recipe (such as the 30 seconds listed below). Especially after that first increment when you think that there’s no way the chips are ever gonna melt. Don’t do it. It never works.
Recipe
Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods
Ingredients
One package each of pretzel rods and white chocolate morsels
Toppings of your choosing (ideas include chocolate or candy sprinkles, chopped toffee bars or nuts)
Melt white chocolate in microwave safe bowl in 30 minute increments – stirring between each session. Do not get impatient and over heat all at once. Have your toppings spread out parchment or waxed paper all ready to go. Spread chocolate on all sides of the pretzel rod leaving just a few inches from the bottom for a handle. It works best to spread from the bottom to the top. Roll immediately in toppings and place on parchment paper to set.
